The second single from Stars' massive Set Fire to Flames LP is a plaintive break-up duet that pits some rather melancholic strings and horns with a majestic guitar build-up. Amy Millan's lush vocals shine as usual on the consoling chorus of "Live through this and you won't look back". Cleansing and cathartic, for those in need of closure, I guess. But get this record for the flip, a charming version of the Pogues' 'Fairytale of New York' (though admittedly it's hard to screw up such a perfect pop song). Celtic to the core, yet softened with those muted Canadian tones, this one is for those wintry Christmases of waist-high snow drifts...without the lingering Guinness hangover.
