Weaves has suddenly become the band to watch in Toronto these days after the release of a pair of fine download-only singles, a mesmerizing set at the NXNE fest and a brief but glowing shout-out in Spin mag - this without any physical product to speak of yet. The Toronto four-piece centered around singer Jasmyn Burke and guitarist/bassist Morgan Waters dropped this little cyber-nugget onto the Net in July and things have been pretty well smoking hot ever since. 'Motorcycle' is an absolute gem of a track, fusing those jerky new wave beats, some oddball vocals and a scathing guitar, all with just the right touch of glam. This ought to have the kids bouncing off the walls, for sure.
